Disclaimer: It’s a love story! so if you’re not interested, it might just be a boring way to spend time!

Pardon me if there are any mistake in “tense” or “voice” of the sentences.

One of my friend told me about it today morning and more than I awe’d about the specifics he remember, I wanted to capture this in words and keep it store it forever in the heap of information, so that I never forget about it.

There is this girl that he loved but like most 90s love, they never explicitly told each other about their feelings. They were kids (around 18–19 year old) and really enjoyed each other’s company.

One sad day, he was told that she died in an accident and for some reason he was not shown her dead body. His gut feel told him that she’s alive and her parents and friends are not telling him the truth.

Years passed and his dilemma of her being alive or dead were fading away into confirmation about her demise. After ~5 years, while fiddling with his laptop, he got her old number saved in one of the application that helps tracking friend’s location, who has already provided access to you (kinda location sharing nowadays). To his surprise, he found the location changing real time. As soon as he got up to visit the location, his friends told him that he is making a mistake and he should get over it. One of his friend, Suraj told him, “His father might be using her number, why don’t you understand”. He lost half of his hope of ever seeing her because it was rude, honest and logical unlike his hope!

Nevertheless, his hope still dragged him out with his 2 phones in hand and GPS tracking live locked on her phone number. GPS guided him to a cross road and as soon as he reached, his eyes started rolling over all around just to get a glimpse of her. After few seconds of not finding any sign of his love, he started identifying everyone around that area, mostly because half of his mind told him to search for her dad. Sadly enough! he saw her dad coming towards him, exactly how GPS showed him. Thoughts of never seeing her ever again filled his heart with great sorrow but somehow he put himself together and asked her dad about where is she, when her dad crossed him. Her dad took a pause, pitied his face and whispered, “She’s alive, but not in town”. His body dropped on the road because of the shock. He knew (and wanted to believe) that whatever he heard was correct and started preparing himself about what to do next. Even though, he hoped to find her alive, he never planned or thought that he will actually find it to be true.

Seeing his miserable condition, her dad came close and sat by him. “I know how much you love her”, her dad whispered slowly. He continued, “She’s not dead. We lied to you, but only because she wanted it to be that way”. The boy’s shock was immeasurable, and at the same time happiness erupted thick tears through his eyes that couldn’t flow out. He abruptly mumbled, looking into her father’s eyes, “But why? Why did she do that?”. Her father answered, “She’s is western Australia, completing her course. She cut-off connection from everyone because she didn’t top in one of her entrance exam and blamed everything on her lack of concentration. She asked us to spread this rumor so that no one tries to connect with her and she can totally focus on her studies.” He continued, “She told that she would fix everything once she is back, specially about you, she mentioned that you might never forgive her but you’ll understand her decision.” Before the boy could get up and ask few more question, while walking away, her dad told him , “I know how much she loves you so if for any reason she leaves you, you will face dire consequences”. My friend got up, while removing dust from his dirty pants, he replied, “If she’s with me, she will never leave me and I will never leave her too, at any cost!”. Her dad smiled back and joined the crowd, leaving him and his happiness alone.

My friend’s happiness crossed 7 skies and all his sadness seemed like, being torn into pieces. He felt like it’s day 0 of their relationship and anything that happened earlier was something that never should be remembered. He could feel her smiling on this from the crowd.

I may not be able to explain all the bits and pieces of this feeling with which my friend told me this story, but I can affirm that this feeling was priceless and can be truly understood, only by feeling it personally.

The story might seem trivial but considering that it was my friend’s morning dream of 18th May 2019, the specifics about it blew my mind. Nevertheless, some of things he couldn’t remember are as follows:

  1. Her name starts something with “Bh (भ)”
  2. Before he left for searching her using GPS he came across a monster truck type Bugatti car. There were 2 of them, one that looked like a Thar and another one which looked like Bugati veyron on steroids.
  3. He couldn’t remember her face, but could remember that she used to love Indian style dressing and had long hair.
