Background
Individually they are doing great in their lives. They have some sort of future plan, they were handling their responsibilities quite well and were surrounded by quite a good number of friends to share their thoughts and take part in all sort of crazy activities!
Ames — For the story’s sake, all you need to know is he’s average looking guy with minimal expectation from romantic social life. He’s been through a quite serious relationship which broke into pieces in relatively short span of time.
Clara — An innocent looking girl with a reputed background of “petty crime master”. She is full of life and has been a similar fate of short lived relationship (of some sort). Because of some incidents, she totally lost hope for love and saw it as a reflection which doesn’t actually exist.
Plot
Since this story is hypothetical representation of a random thought, I would present some real life objects and their philosophical relationship with the story.
Ames and Clara love on two island, situated on two opposite edge of the same face of a cubical world. The space between them is filled with blue mystical ocean.
Representations
Cubical world and the souls on opposite edge of the same face — This represent the horizon on which two people exists. How simply they can see but couldn’t feel each other. This also represents, how they do see things going around each other, from a distance. The cubical shape also shows that there is just one way to get to each other, as going back is like falling off the cliff.
Mystical ocean — This is taken from the fact that “We know more about space than oceans”. This ocean represents the barrier, which once crossed can get them together. But as mentioned, this mystical ocean has unknown creatures to block your way and unexpected wave to drive you away from the path.
Island — This represent the people around them. “Standing on it” represents their behavior which is built by their peer’s influence and now they stand on top of it and trying to see and understand the world all by themselves. Depth of island is the representation of their peer’s understanding. Deeper the place, harder it is to get through and change.
The story!
One fine day, when the ocean waves were calm and was making a musical sound on the island, a huge rock splashed onto the ocean. Ames and Clara glanced each other for the first time, through the showering ocean water drops forming rainbow in the presence of glowing sunlight.
They almost instantly understood that the rock didn’t fall into the ocean for no reason, but would have a long term impact on their lives. Yes, they fell in love within days!
The calm and cool breeze of night sky helped communication across the two worlds. Moon and stars became their new Sun and Sun became their arrogant dad who would keep them from getting completely lost in their beautiful imaginary world. Ocean no longer felt mystical and on the shores they felt each other’s issues in the form of bubbles that goes off once it touch their feet.
Within first few months they got to know about how others tried to set sail towards each other but miserably failed to reach ashore. The more they talked about it, the more they understood the fact that it is next to impossible to reach each other by sailing over the surface of the ocean. Being serious and committed to their relationship, they kept on trying out some or the other way to reach out to each other. Yay! they found a way through which ocean wouldn’t be able to block them — Dig deep under, and way across.
Innocent and impatient souls quickly started to dig their worlds to find a way. Some place were rocky, some were full of mud but some place were full of red soil which can be easily penetrated with a little water drops. They stopped digging deeper when they found lava lurking out and ready to engulf everything. They crossed the one way path and started digging across towards each other. Their fear of loosing each other and impatience nature couldn’t have played better with them, leading them towards the deepest mysteries of the ocean.
Within days, they could feel the salty, cold and dense ocean water seeping through the tunnel. They soon realized that they have made a mistake by digging towards each other sooner than they should, but innocent and crazy as they were, didn’t stop and promised to fight whatever comes on the way.
As of now, they are still digging towards each other while suffering on the way. Clara already got burn marks because of the fuming gas clouds which formed by mixing of ocean water and the lava which she left behind. Ames can feel the heaviness of the land mass above his head and noise (which was once musical) of the waves on the shore. They tried backing-off but the one way path they crossed and the gravity of closeness of each other is too strong to overcome.
Their struggle might be worth it, or the worst and last mistake. Whatever it is, time would decide and uncover.
